Polywrapping
Polywrapping Services UK | Magazines, Brochures & Catalogues
Polywrapping is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to protect and present printed material before it reaches your customer. At A L Mailing, our Ashford, Kent mailing house runs two Norpak Polyprocessors — high-speed plastic enveloping systems purpose-built for the modern mailing industry. Whether you need magazine polywrapping, brochure wrapping, catalogue wrapping or bespoke direct mail in poly film, our team can handle runs from short to very large volumes with speed and accuracy.
What is polywrapping?
Polywrapping (also written “poly wrapping” or “polywrap”) is the process of machine-wrapping magazines, brochures, catalogues, mailers and other printed items in a clear protective polythene film. The film is sealed tightly around the item to keep it clean, dry and secure in transit, while still allowing the cover to be seen. It is widely used by publishers, charities, retailers and mailing agencies across the UK.
Our polywrapping equipment
We operate two Norpak Polyprocessors:
- 5 feeding stations — ideal for medium-volume polywrapping and collating.
- 7 feeding stations — our highest-output machine for multi-product mailings.
Each Polyprocessor includes a continuous-motion sealing system, advanced servo drives with computer control, 32-station programmable memory for fast product recall, push-button format changes, print register and a touch-screen control panel. A special feature is that the machine can be run without film to act as a high-speed multi-station collating or inserting system, and as a mailer base for inkjetting.

Why choose machine polywrapping?
- Protection: keeps items clean, dry and tamper-evident from our site to the letterbox.
- Presentation: crisp, professional film wrapping improves perceived value.
- Cost-effective: machine wrapping is far cheaper than hand packaging at volume.
- Speed: our Polyprocessors handle thousands of items per hour.
- Flexibility: film can be printed, clear or opaque, and can carry your branding.
Polywrapping vs envelope enclosing
If your mailing needs a more formal finish — for example a business letter with a response envelope — envelope enclosing may be a better fit. Polywrapping suits magazines, catalogues and products that need to remain visible; envelope enclosing suits personalised letters and transactional mail. We provide both, so we will always recommend the most cost-effective option for your campaign.
Add-on services for your campaign
As a full-service mailing house, we can combine polywrapping with data bureau processing, laser and inkjet personalisation, envelope printing and Mailsort, DSA and Presstream despatch — everything under one roof.
